Unique technical solutions for long crossings. Crossing length 2,500 m

Specialists of Rosseti Tumen completed the reconstruction of special crossings of the 110 kV Gornaya – Kosach and Gornaya – Uvat overhead transmission lines across the Irtysh River in the north of the Tyumen Region. These transmission lines supply power to the region's largest district – Uvatsky – and to the pipeline system linking the fields of Western Siberia with oil refineries in Central Russia.
In the place of transit crossing through the largest tributary of the Ob, power engineers installed over 13 km of Russian innovative conductors ASHS 287/240 developed by Industrial Technology Center, LLC specifically for such objects. The design of the conductor ensures the minimization of wind, ice and vibration loads on all elements of the line. This is very important for such objects. This is not the first successful application of the company's products for long crossings. The conductor was developed as part of the implementation of innovative solutions. With the participation of «Rosseti» services, the conductor-fittings system was developed and tested.
During the implementation of the project, 11 pillars up to 94 metres high were erected, which is comparable to a 30-storey building. More than 2.5 thousand insulators, 160 bird protection devices and 108 signal balloons-markers were installed on power lines. The equipment is resistant to strong winds and frosts typical for the region.
The Irtysh is one of the northernmost rivers in Russia. The icing can last for several weeks, with the ice being about a metre thick. To protect transmission towers from damage, gabion structures consisting of a steel frame and filler were used. To protect special crossings from scouring during floods, power engineers reinforced 200 metres of the coastline with sheet piles.
Special power transmission line crossings are complex engineering structures, and each power bridge has its own project for construction and reconstruction. Specific soil and climate conditions may require unique solutions.
