Self-Supporting Insulated Conductors (SIP)

SIP-2 and SIP-3 conductors represent an advancement of the radial plastic compression technology for conductive and load-bearing layers in overhead line conductors and messenger cables. During testing, it has been proven that this technology allows for: increased manufacturing precision of strands by diameter, tighter stranding, elimination of potential uneven tension in conductors, formation of band contact between conductors, neutralization of stranding stresses, and ensuring uniform load distribution among composite elements.

SIP-conductors expand the possibilities for network design and operation:
1. The variant with minimal electrical resistance ensures:
· Desired power quality for remote consumers;
· Reduction of electrical energy losses.
2. Variants with increased mechanical strength, in addition to improved electrical characteristics (relative to commonly used), provide the possibility of increasing span lengths, as well as greater operational reliability in severe climatic conditions.
3. Our SIP-conductors allow for installation under overpasses and other obstacles within special conduits used for similar products.
4. Standard fittings (the same as for SIP commonly used, corresponding to the conductor's diameter).

The proposed technical solution reduces mechanical load on all elements of overhead power lines during reconstruction without replacing supports, enabling increased current-carrying capacity without changing the conductor's diameter and without increased cost.
